2. Describe the rationale and motivation for the request. Include information on program LOAD; ratios of full-time FTEF to hourly FTEF and full-time to part-time faculty; recent faculty retirements; any mandates and regulations affecting the position; and any additional reasons, including impact on the community at large.

| The program LOAD (WSCH/FTEF) for Academic Year 2016/2017 was 702.2; for Academic Year 2017/2018 it was 592.2 for a two year average of 647.2. There are no part-time faculty. Cosmetology currently has two tenured full-time faculty. The program lost a tenured full-time faculty member in December 2017 to retirement and a tenure track faculty member in the spring of 2018.
Full-time Cosmetology Faculty work Monday through Friday, 25 hours per week. Asking full-time faculty to take on overload that equates to another full-time class would equal 50 hours of work per week; which is what our two tenured faculty are managing now. This ‘overload’ scenario is untenable long-term and may impact student learning outcomes as faculty will have less time for class preparation, maintaining curriculum currency, and providing students with up-to-date information via a course presence on CANVAS. To maintain successful course and program SLO’s our program requires these two tenured positions to be filled. At a minimum, we need at least one tenure track faculty member and one or more adjunct faculty.
3. Discuss how the position will help the department and/or division meet goals and support student learning as described in most recent program review.

At a minimum, we need at least one tenure track faculty member and one or more adjunct faculty. Over the past two years, the local community has enjoyed receiving low priced services with 4572 clients being served. We discount services for seniors, faculty, and District students; the past two years we have provided $80,650 in quality services, discounting $14,730.00 worth. We need additional faculty in order to maintain serving this many clients, which most importantly provides students with invaluable educational opportunities.
