BUSW Courses
Though adjuncts were made aware of equity gaps--specifically the decline in African-American success rates--the program lost its single full-time faculty lead (deceased, April 2018) which created a lack of cohesion in the program. The program's biggest challenge is a lack of a full-time faculty member.

If your answer is more than 2000 characters (approximately 300 words), please upload a Word document below (10 MB or less). If you’re not sure, please upload your answer. Please upload text only; we cannot ensure that non-text such as images, diagrams, or charts will be retained in the final submission.
BUSW

The BUSM program has been most affected by technological changes and suffered a decline in enrollment. Of CSM’s declared majors, in the last 10 academic years, 19 AA degrees and 14 certificates in information processing have been awarded. During the same period, 54 office assistant certificates of specialization were awarded.
We will redesign course and program curriculum to capture technological changes with student learning outcomes to accommodate the new skills demand by the labor force.

4c. Review and update the program’s Advisory Committee information. Provide the date of most recent advisory committee meeting.

Please upload text only; we cannot ensure that non-text such as images, diagrams, or charts will be retained in the final submission.
Courses offered in the BUSW discipline have been reevaluated including feedback from industry advisors. As a result, we have deactivated BUSW 315/316 Keyboarding, BUS317 Skill Building, BUS 105 Introduction to Microcomputers, BUS 530 Introduction to Internet. Additionally, we have converted six 1.5-unit sequence courses into three 3-unit courses. The new courses are Business Presentations, Spreadsheets, and Word Processing.

The department will design a mandatory terminal log-in survey that captures basic academic and demographic data to facilitate compliance with equity reporting requirements in future program reviews. Timeline for implementation is by the next Program Review cycle.

5b. What will your program do to increase student success and promote student equity in the next two years? What kind of professional development and institutional support will be engaged and enacted to meet these goals?

The department is requesting hardware to facilitate student sign-ins, a process currently handled on a single terminal. The current process is cumbersome and slows entry/exit to the Center.
BUSM program should be merged with Business & Management.
Business Computer Center should be treated as a Center for purposes of review and administrative/institutional support for allocation of resources.

If your answer is more than 2000 characters (approximately 300 words), please upload a Word document below (10 MB or less). If you’re not sure, please upload your answer.
